Match the surface
FG for natural grass, FG/AG for grass and artificial turf, MxSG for soft or wet ground, Indoor or Futsal for courts.
The Footwear Edit
Football boots for every surface and level, from junior first pairs to match-day speed boots.
The right boot changes how the ball feels. Grip, lockdown and touch all come down to the soleplate and the upper, so the surface you play on decides where to start.
We pick boots for natural grass, artificial turf, soft ground and indoor courts, for adults and juniors, from the ranges players actually wear.
The buyer's guide
Three things worth checking before you buy, so it works as hard as you do.
FG for natural grass, FG/AG for grass and artificial turf, MxSG for soft or wet ground, Indoor or Futsal for courts.
Boots should feel close with little room at the toe, so size with your match socks on.
PLAY and MATCH tiers suit training and club football; ULTIMATE builds are lighter and faster.

The soleplate matters most. FG (firm ground) studs suit dry natural grass. AG (artificial grass) and FG/AG soleplates use shorter, more numerous studs that grip synthetic pitches without catching. MxSG mixes metal and moulded studs for soft or wet ground, and Indoor or Futsal shoes use flat rubber soles for courts and halls. Wearing the wrong soleplate on the wrong surface costs grip and can strain ankles and knees.
Football boots fit closer than everyday sneakers, with minimal room at the toe so the ball feels direct. Try them with the socks you play in. Ranges come in tiers: PLAY and MATCH models suit training and club football at a friendlier price, while ULTIMATE builds are lighter and stiffer for speed. Youth sizes cover ages 8 to 16, and many junior styles share the same upper technology as the adult boots.
